So… Welcome to the new normal.
Entertainment is stalled. Folks are looking for diversions. People who already had careers are struggling. My more established writer friends say they’re still getting reads and virtual meetings. But if you’re still trying to connect, to “break in,” things are stalled at the moment.
But what if there was a way to help people – to bring hope to the world and potentially jump start your career at the same time. There are no guarantees, but if you’re just sitting around, why not make the best of the situation – by creating your art in a slightly different form.
Introducing Nibbles: Bite-Size Story Snacks for Your Ears

Nibbles is my attempt to help people – writers, actors, and the general public – by producing short audio dramas centered around the theme of HOPE.
I am a writer and an actor. But I spent the first 30 years of my career working in radio, producing TV and editing commercials, promos and industrial videos. And now I want to give back – and offer my writer and actor friends the opportunity to do so as well.
My proposal to you – send me your unproduced short scripts. They don’t have to be new. Just unproduced, 12 pages or less, and embody some idea that aligns with the theme of HOPE. If you have something already that fits, perfect! If you want to write something new, that’s fine too.
I will personally read all of the scripts, pick the best ones and produce an audio drama that will be published as an episode of an ongoing podcast.
Yes, that means I’ll need actors too. If you have the equipment and can record audio, reach out to me. Because of the COVID-19 concerns, I’ll need each actor to record in their home studio. It’ll be a little like a virtual table read of each script, that I’ll edit together with a little sound design – some SFX, etc.
Each of the episodes will be posted for podcast grabbers like Apple/iTunes, Stitcher, iHeartRadio. The details will include full credits – the writers’ names and contact info, the actors’ names and contact info. So if someone likes a story or performance, they can reach out and connect to the creators.
Rights – The audio dramas will be produced as non-exclusive works based on your material. That means THE WRITER retains the Intellectual Property (IP), and can use the characters, story, situations, etc., as they please for anything else – it’s like a piece of transmedia, created for you. I will retain nothing. In fact, if something larger does happen with your IP and you need the audio piece taken down, I will happily comply.
Costs & Risks – like I said before, there are no guarantees. I am asking that writers who submit pay a small $8 fee to offset the cost of the hosting for the episodes and the site. Actors would be asked to donate their time and talent. If, by some miracle, I am approached by someone with interest in making something more substantial of the podcast, any benefit, including income would be shared.
