It was a little over a year ago, I guess, when a friend’s bearded tale (not a typo) inspired me to step out & trust God more. As always, just as when I moved out here, my family wholeheartedly supported me.

A few weeks later, I got the opportunity to upgrade my less than desirable living situation I’d had since moving to Tinseltown and moved into an apartment. It’s still not perfect, but I’ve heard tales of much worse.

In the last year, I’ve been featured heavily in 2 episodes of Glee, worked on a pilot with Angie Everhart & some old friends, found out the other pilot I did with Alphas creator Michael Karnow & Ryan Cartwright got picked up, became SAG-AFTRA-eligible on Video Game High School (VGHS), worked on a hot new webseries with an old college friend, dated 2 incredible women, got hired to adapt a novel into a screenplay, got selected, based on my logline submissions, to do a TV pilot writing intensive with Jen Grisanti Consultancy, and got to do a movie with some friends, which included a camp-out of sorts with some of the finest celebrities around (even if they’re somewhat less famous to the general public). And a few dozen other small victories and experiences that are part of the cumulative advancement.

In mid-September, I decided to take a break from background work and focus more heavily on “real” acting. In the past 3 months I have had more auditions than the first year I was here, including 2 in a row for Criminal Minds, I started *booking* them, and I’ve worked steadily, on several student projects and independent films.

I want point out that while it is true that persistence & longevity pay off in this business, trusting Jesus is far more important. In just a year, I’ve accelerated through about 3-years worth of career advancement, and my (now formerly) bearded friend… Well, he’s over the top. And Lord-knows, I’m gonna be on his heels shortly.
