It amazes me how much people have studied the original Rocky film and forget that his goal was NOT to beat Apollo Creed. It’s very clearly stated about 1/2-way through – (paraphrased) no one’s ever lasted 10 rounds with the champion. If I can do that, I’ll know I’m not just some bum from the neighborhood.
